Titled, Manco Cápac y Mama Ocllo: Una leyenda viva (Manco Cápac and Mama Ocllo: A living legend), the documentary was staged in 2016 in Puno, Peru.
Qenti Producciones is a team of young creatives that seek to promote tourism in Peru. They produced this documentary about the Inca Empire in the hopes of attracting more visitors to the country.
“Pueno is the capital of Peruvian folklore”, states Qenti Producciones. Because of the history of actors, dancers and craftsmen who participate in festivals in the area, they decided to create this documentary. In it, you can experience the preparations for the celebrations in honor of Manco Cápac and Mama Ocllo.
The legend says that the sun god was concerned about the people who lived in Lake Titicaca. And so, he decided to send his son and daughter, Manco Cápac and Mama Ocllo, who were also husband and wife, to civilize them.
Manco Cápac taught the men how to live in society and worship the sun god, and Mama Ocllo taught the women tasks like textiles and domestics labors. During this festival, representatives of these legendary figures transit the lake on typical boats, dressed with typical Inca outfits.
