Peru: The real estate boom in Lima continues strong for office space

Due to the high demand for offices, the real estate and construction companies in Peru estimate that some 60,000 square meters of offices are to be built each year, according to Victor Saldaña, from Inmobiliaria Alfredo Graf.

This boom started three years ago, and since then 260,000 square meters of corporative office space buildings have been built.

“Surco is a district where many projects are concentrating. Investors have found it as an ideal place, because most top executives live there, and they want to avoid the traffic jams that are usual in San Isidro and Miraflores,” said Saldaña.

Currently, there are eight projects in Surco, seven in Miraflores, 12 in San Isidro and two in La Molina.

“San Isidro is still the preferred zone, because it is the financial district and all the banks have presence are there,” explained Saldaña.

Just more and more building with no planning or impact studies.  Knock down those single family houses, build apartment buildings with 10 families in them, keep crowding more and more people into the area, and then everyone wonders why the traffic is such a nightmare here.

Glad I left Surco and moved out here to Causarinas.
