Peru is widely known for its main tourist attraction: Machu Picchu. Nevertheless, it receives daily a massive number of visitors which can make it complicated to enjoy.

For this reason, El Comercio shared a list of other places you can visit in Peru, and that are less known, but not less extraordinary.

Choquequirao

These ruins are located at 3,104 meters above sea level and you can get to this place after four of five days hiking.

Sacred Valley

The route from Pisac to Ollantaytambo is of a green panorama, multi-colored crops and amazing backgrounds.

Alpamayo

Considered as the “most beautiful mountain in the world”, you can find it 400 km north of Lima and it’s perfect for mountaineering.

Huayhuash Mountain Range

It’s next to the Cordillera Blanca and although it is just over 28 kilometers wide, the Cordillera de Huayhuash is considered the most remote of the Peruvian Andes because it has the highest snow-capped peaks in the country with more than 6,000 meters of height.

Ausangate

It’s another snowy peak in Peru 6,386 meters high and it has been revered since ancient times as a protective deity.

Uros Island

This consists of a community that lives on floating islands above Lake Titicaca. These people’s fascinating way of life makes it worth visiting.

Pacaya Samiri

For those who want to experience the Amazon you need to travel the Amazon River, the largest in the world. By doing so you can visit the Pacaya Samiri National Reserve.

Choquequirao

It takes nine days traveling through the Vilcabamba Mountain Range, but its beauty is often compared to Machu Picchu’s.
