The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism, Promperú reported that the 26th edition of Peru Travel Mart expects to achieve between $23.5 and $25 million US dollars in the tourism sector of Peru.
This year’s Travel Mart will take place between May 17 and 20 at the Jockey Convention Center in Lima. According to Edgar Vásquez, head of Mincetur (Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism), it is the most important event of its kind in the country.
“Tourism is one of the most important economic activities in the country, so the public and private sectors must continue to work in an articulated manner so that more Peruvians can benefit from this sector, diversifying our offer and markets,” Vásquez told América Economía.
Around 161 purchasing companies from 27 different companies are expected to come to this event, and it represents 30% more than what was registered in 2018.
“Of the 161 registered tour operators, 124 are new international participants. Likewise, 61 correspond to the luxury segment, 19 are from MICE (conferences, exhibitions, congresses and events) and 11 are corporate. We estimate that some 7,000 work meetings will take place,” said Carlos Canales, president of Canatur to the aforementioned media.
