The Forum of Civil Society, the Forum of Indigenous People, and the Meeting of National Coordinators of the Summit Implementation Review Group will take place today.
The activities of the VIII Summit of the Americas begin today in the city of Lima, including the Forum of Civil Society and the Forum of Indigenous People.
As informed by Andina News Agency, “the representatives of civil society will participate in forums prior to the Summit of the Americas, where they will dialogue with high-level representatives of the governments of the region to make known their proposals on democratic governance against corruption.”
The activities scheduled for today began at 9:00 am, local time, at the Sheraton Hotel, and will continue until 6:00 pm.
These forums will address topics such as: indigenous government systems; democracy; the fight against corruption; human rights; persons with disabilities; human development; and others.
In addition, the Meeting of National Coordinators of the Summit Implementation Review Group (SIRG) will be held at the Lima Convention Center from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. This is the main executing body of the summit process and is composed of government officials of the countries of the hemisphere, who are represented in the review group through national coordinators appointed by their governments.
