Last year, a group of archaeologists discovered a strange mummy in the Nazca lines in Peru with a human form, but different proportions.

According to information from ABC, “the mummy dated from the fifth century, a thousand years before the discovery of America. They called her Maria”.

After recent testing, Russian geneticists have determined that the creature, which has elongated head and three fingers and toes, is a humanoid with 23 chromosomes.

“At the moment we are doing a detailed analysis to see if the shape of the position of all the chromosomes, of all the amino acids, coincides with ours,” said Konstantin Korotkov, a professor at the National Research University of Russia, as you can read in ABC News.
The scientists also pointed out that the structure of Maria’s ribs is very different from that of a human being. She has a keel-shaped upper part, and the rib cage consists of a handful of semicircular ribs. “Its unusual shape has helped scientists carefully study the internal organs of the mummy”, the website wrote today.

The white color the mummy has is due to the mummification process where cadmium chloride was used to keep the body preserved.

Korotkov said that these creatures that have been found had probably perished as a result of a large flood or impact of a comet. “A handful of those who survived met savage tribes of prehistoric men and taught them crafts and agriculture. They mated with local women. They had three fingers and this genetic characteristic could become evident in future generations,” he said according to ABC.
