The opposition congresswoman in Peru, lawyer Yeni Vilcatoma, announced yesterday that she will file a complaint against the President, Martín Vizcarra, for allegedly violating the country’s constitution.

RT Noticias reported that this alleged violation is of the article 126 which regulates activities outside governmental functions. This article reads:

“Ministers cannot manage personal or third party interests, exercise lucrative activity or intervene in company management or private associations”, as published in ONPE (Oficina Nacional de Procesos Electorales).

“Vilcatoma maintains that the President was the operations manager of his family company CyM Vizcarra – linked to the Odebrecht case – while he was the minister of Transport and Communications”, RT Noticias wrote.
This took place, according to RT Noticias, during the presidency of Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (PPK). It is known that Vizcarra left this company on March 2018 when he assumed the role of Head of State after PPK’s resignation.
