A contest for a logo that can promote the canyon internationally is open to whoever wants to participate.
The Regional Government of Arequipa will postulate the Cotahuasi Canyon to the Unesco. This natural formation is located in the province of La Union, and it wishes to be considered as a World Heritage Site in the Natural category.
The regional councilor for the province of La Union, James Pozo, highlighted that the landscape reserve of Cotahuasi has 12 ecosystems and a depth that exceeds 4,000 meters deep, said Andina.
Also, along with the Cotahuasi canyon people can enjoy of the sight of different altitudinal floors with a varied flora and fauna, the waterfall of Sipia that has a free fall of 150 meters, a stone forest, hot springs, and other natural attractions.
“Cotahuasi also has a religious colonial architecture admired by its visitors, as well as cave paintings that attract the attention of national and foreign tourists who come to the place.”, wrote the news agency.
Pozo explained that the process to postulate the Cotahuasi canyon as a World Heritage Site in the Natural category began a few weeks ago, with the launching of the Cotahuasi Canyon Isologo Competition, heading for the World Heritage of Humanity.
This contest seeks to find a logo that identifies the canyon and allows its promotion internationally. The proposals can be presented before May 20 and will be subjected to online voting.
