The Australian companies are interested in advancing in mining exploration in Peru, considering the growth of the sector, which they want to be part of.
According to the commercial counselor of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission for Peru and Ecuador, Marie Hill, the majority of exploration projects in Peru are currently related to copper, which favored investment by making it more competitive.
“The projects that already exist are advancing. Australia wants to be part of the growth of Peru, which is one of the economies of greatest expansion in Latin America,” the Business Development Manager of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, Sheyla Vargas, said, according to El Peruano.
She also commented that the Australian investment in Peru reaches $3,373 million US dollars, in mining and also as suppliers of equipment, services, and software for the sector and that there are even about 90 Australian companies in Peru, mainly associated with the mining sector.
On the other hand, Hill said that the free trade agreement (FTA) between Peru and Australia will boost future trade, which currently stands at around $446 million US dollars.
Australia also showed interest in the oil sector in Peru.
