Peru received more than 2.7 million foreign tourists in 2018, exceeding what was recorded in 2017, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) said in a statement.
“According to the Profile of the Foreign Tourist 2018, study prepared by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (…) the number of tourists who decided to vacation in national territory grew by 8% in relation to 2017”, indicated the Ministry, according to Sputnik News.
The exact number of tourists welcomed last year was at 2,728,733, according to numbers from Mincetur. In addition, it was known that the average expenditure of visitors during their stay was $1,013 US dollars, higher than the amount recorded the previous year.
Also, the average length of stay was 10 nights and 3 cities visited. “Preferences pointed to Lima as a favorite destination, followed by the southern cities of Cusco, Tacna, Puno and Arequipa”, the article read.
