The Huanuco region experienced a 5.1-magnitude earthquake on Tuesday morning. People or structures suffered no damage according to reports.
According to the Geophysical Institute of Peru (Instituto Geofísico del Perú, IGP), cited by Andina News Agency, Huanuco suffered an earthquake at 5:10 am, local time, at a depth of 125 kilometers.
The institute also indicated that Huanuco earthquake’s epicenter was located 26 kilometers northwest the town of Aucayacu in the Leoncio Prado province in the Huánuco jungle. There, it was felt with a level three intensity but the authorities haven’t reported damages of any sort.

In response to IGP’s tweet, the account Earthscape’s indicated that this type of earthquake occur because of the deformation of the Nazca plate.
