This restaurant is fantastic and is one of the most recommended restaurants in Lima - a wonderful place to experience first class Peruvian cuisine in cosy surroundings.

It's been a while since I've expressed myself about restaurant Astrid y Gaston, but there is not much to add. It's simply GREAT!

This has to be one of the best restaurants in Peru, if not in South America. The food is simply wonderful - a lovely combination of the traditional and the modern. While we were greeted by a hostess with an attitude problem, we quickly forgot that by tasting the delicious assortment of causas, and were completely in heaven by the time we got to the main course. Highly recommended!!

Went to 'Astrid y Gaston' a couple of days ago after reading Carsten Korch's two rave reviews. We indeed needed to verify and validate the reports! The restaurant is located in a very central location of the Miraflores district and extremely accessible from the Larco strip. Right, cutting to the chase, this place rocks! The food is aesthetically presented and tastes excellent. They didn't serve chicha morada but instead recommended a variation of the traditional drink which contained a bit of Pisco. It was very good. Try this place out during your visit to Lima.

Having heard so much about the culinary scene in Lima, I went back after years of absence. And let me tell you what a surprise!!! I always considered all aspects of Peruvian cuisine one of the most complex of the world, but now after visiting Astrid y Gaston my concept of this Peruvian export has been taken to another level.
It is hard to describe such an emotion while eating a perfect ceviche or a misunderstood cuy.
Highly recommended. Highly

It is difficult for a much-acclaimed restaurant to live up to expectations but A y G did. A y G has traditional ingredients (pejerrey, for instance) that are difficult to find and prepares them in innovative and delicious ways. We shared the pejerrey as an entrée, a sublime seafood soup and a three month old roasted baby pig. All excellent. We wanted to taste the picarones and were brought a one-third portion (and only charged for one-third). The prices are high for Perú but not for a world class restaurant. We wish A y G served "amuse bouche". (We did appreciate the "mignardise" served with coffee.

Since my first visit in 1997, this has been my all time favourite place for both casual and uptie dining in Lima. I never go to Lima without passing at least one night in Astrid & Gaston, and if I get the chance would propose it as meeting place for lost danes in Lima.

Simply one of the best.....If you go on business alone, sit at the bar at converse with the firendly and knowledgeable bar staff. They can guide you through some of the things on the menu and prepare their favorite drinks!!

I can only agree with all who say that this restaurant is amazing. Although I didn't like the still rosa (I guess that is the hole idea) fois gras and was about to burst into tears when I ran out of my main course of 2 style duck. Full and happy I didn't think that the dessert would make my day, but the little chocolate muffins with tasty ice cream and a delicious chilifried sweet banana did! Don't show up in short sleeves. The air-con is working perfectly.

The best service in Lima by far and great food as well!  Do try the "menu degustación"  where you can all try little bits of dishes and end up trying different dishes...it's an amazing experience!  The maitres are very good and Manuel, the Sommelier is amazing!!  he finds great parings without suggesting the most expensive wines.

From such a humble exterior.... inside are terrific Peruvian delicacies presented in a classy fashion.... in a peaceful surrounding .
Don't need a menu.....everything is delicious and interesting. Nice chatting with friendly kitchen staff. We'll eat here everytime we visit Peru.

Que Rico !

A y G should be rated number 1 on this list. We found La Gloria way TOO NOISY, MUSIC TOO LOUD ( at lunch at least ).....it took away from what might have been good food.
