According to Peruvian fans, The British band Depeche Mode did not say "Thank you Chile"during the concert in Lima; reportedly, the band is used to closing their concerts with the phrasethank you children.”

The fans pointed out that singer Dave Gahan's usual phrase is “thank you very much, children”, and he used the same expression in Colombia, the United States, Canada, and Germany, among other countries.

Many fans made public the footage videos of past concerts, showing that in fact Gahan said that phrase.

“It is clear that he did not say 'Thank you, Chile,' " said one fan who attended the concert in Lima.

The "alleged" slip was particularly embarrassing since Peru and Chile are historically enemies with a dispute dating to a 1879-84 war between the South American neighbors.

Why the hell would he say children? He didn't say "chile" or "children" he said thank you good night while out of breath. I bet he won't do that again. He ALWAYS says thank you good night, sometimes even adding in "see you next time." He never strays from that.

Amen, Fran. Are you people deaf? He said, "Thank you very much, good night," like he always does. Plain as anything. People. Always trying to start controversy and fights over BS. So sad. Keep this up and they won't want to perform for anyone ever again.

I think people are deaf, or just don't understand english. Dave Gahan clearly said "Thank you very much, good night"
