Chile-based home improvement chain stores Sodimac, from group Falabella, reports that it is planning
to open at least 15 new stores in Peru during the next four years, which may imply an investment of US $60 million dollars.
Hilda Ruiz, Sodimac's project sub-manager, said that for this year they have three projects; Open Plaza Surquillo, for September, another in Jockey Plaza Shopping Center in Surco, and the Open Plaza Piura project.
“Then we are going to Arequipa, with Mall Aventura, and to San Juan de Lurigancho afterwards,” she added.
Regarding other portfolio projects, Ruiz indicated that among the destinations that are being evaluated are Lima, Huancayo, Cusco, Tacna, Chimbote and Sullana. “We are also evaluating Iquitos' market, but this possibility depends on a very careful analysis,” she said.
