(LIP-wb) -- Peruvian President Alan Garcia Perez publicly admitted today on National television that he is the father of a 20-month old boy, the result of a sexual relationship with Peruvian citizen Elizabeth Roxanne Cheesman Rajkovic.

“I want to inform the country that between April 2004 and October 2005 I maintained a relationship with this woman and a boy was born in February 2005. I have recognized this boy as my child and I have followed my duties as his rightful father since the moment of his birth" he declared.

He added that during the mentioned period, he and his wife, First Lady Pilar Nores de Garcia, had separated. They reunited and resurrected their marriage in October last year.

Garcia assured he will give the boy, his sixth child, his total affection and he will guarantee the best education possible.

“Federico Garcia Cheesman is a very beautiful boy, he is carrying my last name and I will protect him as long as he lives. It will open my doors to him, whether at home or at the Government Palace”, he stresseed, adding that this way he would perform his duty and conviction as a father.

Accompanied by his wife, Garcia explained during a special press conference held at the Government Palace, that he did not mention the subject earlier in order to protect his and his son's right of privacy.

The president assured that he can count on the moral support and understanding of his wife, adding that she has already demonstrated her dignity as First Lady to our country.

“The President of the Republic does not have a private life because he personifies the nation. Peruvian citizens must know everything that concerns the various aspects of his life”, he stated.

He is very good men. He is confessing to his people that he has made mistake and also take his responsibility as father of the baby. I am very proud to have a people like this. When you make mistake and try to confess and move on with new life.

I have to agree with Leteisa. While Alan may simply be avoiding persecution or scandal, his transparency is desperately needed, and I am sure it will be appreciated by the people of Peru.

-update-

Ollanta Humala said it was the "correct" thing to do to tell the public and not following Toledo's example.
"It is a situation that corresponds to the Garcia-Nores family. This is not a political subject. It is a personal subject and I prefer not to make any judgment on the issue", he said.

His deputy Daniel Abugattas however said he was surprised about the news, after Garcia always used the family as a standard for his political campaign.

Abugattás commented that "this is unfortunate" and, in addition, "that the wife of the President accepts anything so she can stay in the power".

I thisnk this is a personal issue but Garcia demonstrates his inteligence as statesman and I'm sure peruvians feel respect for this behavior. Regarding Abugattas's comments...well we all know the kind of declarations he likes to do, tacky, very tacky...

I think that he was very brave to tell the country about his sixth son. But all the Peruvians have to remember something: we do not care about his private life. We have to focus on his promises and achievements during his period as the President of Peru.
Best regards,
Elizabeth Sánchez

We shouldn't judge Mr.Garcia for what he did or
didn't do,his personal life only belongs to him
and his family. I am glad he recognized his son.
I wish him and his family the best.

Read from Wolfy. This is his sixth son. Has he not had enough sexual contact with his wife? Why do people need two relationships to make them sexually happy? He has probably done this before, and will continue to do this in the future. Even if he really stops, then he will have lust for everyone he meets. Has he ever been a virgin? He has probably had many more bastards than King Henry VIII. Times are long gone since Elizabeth I. Who is the "other" woman? Like Bessie Blount, neither she nor her baby will gain fame or anything else. I feel for all of the Henry Fitzroy and Queen Catherine's of the world. The King Henry's deserve no remorse or forgiveness. What must be happening to the other children? The Mary's and Elizabeth's are going to grow up in the shadows of his lie.

These are references to the Tudor dynasty of England.

Dear Eshani,
The responsability for having sex is on both members of the copulating event. This is not only a men responsability but women too. I do not think your personalized comentary has any importance if we do not undestand that the responsability is on the one who asks for and the other who follows the lead. This is an eternal event in human kind history. It has nothing to do with Aland or eny other King or Queen, is part of our nature. If for you this behaving  is horrendous, Ok, it is in your world; this does not neccessary means that is proper or not. Man kind is an animal of herd and so, for that reason, is not rare to find a man or a women having sexual relations outside of the so called marriage.
Society has tryed to rule this behaving of humanity since begining of our era, It has been included en the law and religion; and noting has change. We are only humans responding to biological event of our kind, and posible we do mistakes here and there; depending on our time and historical momentum of live. I may be wrong, but I think on this way, with out any intention of deminishing your comentary which I appreciate. So, let me say, yes I understand your possition according to the laws of society, but is not the natural response of a human behavior. As I said, this has nothing to do with Aland the presidente or any King or Queen. It happens in the best and in the most humble families.
