So Sad. Nepal is the country where higest mountain Mt Everest and birth place of Buddha - Lumbini is located at. Why it is borrowing such things from Peru I dont understand. I thought Maoist armed movement was the only thing common between Nepal and Peru but now I realize that mean journalism exist in both these third world nations that have nothing more to deliver than blame and shame.

It cant be anything more than the sheer ignoracne and negligence in the part of Nepal Airlines authorities who did not check the fact before using such material. And I only wonder who did that poster. Not only 8 of the world's 10 highest mountain is in Nepal, there are no scarcity of the culturally significant sites that are second to none. So there is no point for any Nepali in right sense to use an image from elsewhere to promote Nepal. The grim fact still remains that we have not been able to harness the potential that we really have.
However, for this stupidity, all Nepalese owe an apology to Peruvian people. And I would like to express that it could not have been an intentional act...but more a act of stupidity.

Are you certain it is Macchu Picchu? Nepal has a beautiful range called Annapurna with the 'Machapuchare' or 'Fishtail Mountain'. I have long been aware of the similarity of this name with Macchu Picchu, and that they both apply to snowy and misty (depending on the season) mountains, and been surprised at the similarity.
So it is either a hasty mistake, the one picture being picked out instead of the other, or it is, indeed, Machapuchare.

It is also possible that Nepal Airlines outsourced the making of the brochure to some other company, who confused the two mountains on the basis of similarity of names. If they did, then Nepal Airlines could sue them — except for the fact that they should check the outsourced work before they release it to the public.

Nepal Airlines , Correct the mistake ! It could have been that the particular publicity material was outsourced. This should have , however , been double checked ! Nepal is a beautiful country and resource materials are in abundance. Same goes for Peru !! Machu Pichu is to Peruvians as Mt Everest is to Nepalese.
Let us avoid such gross negligence in future.
As a Nepali i would like to express my apology to Peruvians. We mean no offence !

hahaha.... im peruvian and i can only smile at the confussion.... How embarrasing to Nepal Airlines though. Im sure this mistake will cost few people their jobs. On the other hand, their 10 dollars poster got worldwide coverage, so maybe they will get a salary raise rather than get laid off. The only bad publicity is the one that nobody reads. Now millions know there exist Nepal Airlines, and also millions more got reminded about the Inca city of Machu Picchu

This exactly the point.
To get people talking,"if you had seen Nepal you would know that other place on the picture is not Nepal" it could have been any other place on earth. It is a marketing trick. (who is ignorent now).
