New James Bond movie not to be shot in Cusco, Peru

(LIP-ir) -- It was reported today that the new James Bond movie, scheduled for release by the end of this year, would no longer be filmed in Cusco, Peru.

Producers for the new Bond 22 or Quantum of Solace movie have decided not to film in Cusco because of unpredictable weather conditions that could jeopardize the production team's work and the group of famous actors that are to take part in the new Bond movie.

According to Margarita Morales from Iguana Productions, the Peruvian company that was to assist EON, the production company will not risk filming at the Inca Citadel because of the bad weather conditions during this time of year.

"They aren't going to film anymore because special film conditions, which don't exist anymore, were required. The suspension is mainly due to climatic changes", said Morales.

Furthermore, Morales assured that filming had not been canceled because of protests or conflicts taking place in the region.

Filmmakers are on a tight schedule and they could not risk it raining, like it's doing so now, said Morales. "It wasn't because of the strike, at least that's not what the production team has said."

Action scenes were going to be shot at the Incan Citadel of Machu Picchu from March 2 to March 12 and were reportedly going to involve at lest 250 people.

Some how I just don't believe I could successively defend myself with using just a PPK and all the other tricks I have up my sleeve in the event of another strike. "Thanks Too All Of You Violent Protestors; One Down And How Many More To Go?"

I am so glad to read this news. They were actually planning on using Machu Picchu for this movie! thanks heavens they "changed" their mind.

You see, it was a stupid movie anyways not worth the risk of damaging the sacred citadel.

Lets remember when Lima-based Walter J. Thompson agency distroyed the Intiwatana or solar stone clock, while recording some TV ad.

If this is the way Peruvian authorities protect our Indigenous sites? Renting it out to movie producers? Unbeliveable.

Too bad they are not shooting 007 in Peru, They went to film this saga in the most faboulus places on the planet, Rio, Italy, Nice (France), Praga, etc.
If they considered filming in Peru , that should make us feel proud.

yes, it is pretty sad what happened to Intiwatana. From now on, I hate Walter Thompson. I have a picture when it was intact. It is very sad.

assuming nothing would be damaged, i agree it is another strike against the whole country. also a feather in humala and chavez hat because they are behind all these uprisings . they do not want a smooth garcia administration. as far as rain? come on it rains in all of the other locations being shot also.

And they didn't know earlier that this time of year there could be some rain in Cusco? Come on, every tourist knows that. You're not going to make me believe that these multi-million dollar organizations can not do some research on the web...

If every popular protest in Peru is sponsored by Humala and Chavez, then I might just like them and support them from now on. Seems that they are the only ones who care about Peruvian people needs.

Hard to beleive it is due to 'weather'.  Unless they were referring to cars being flipped and burned in the street.  Oh well, glad they aren't bringing 250+ people to film in Machu Picchu anyhow.

It really has been raining cats n dogs here in Cusco, really it has, today is the 1st day of sun with no rain in 2 weeks.
It is rather clear here that no one could have known that it is not normal for so much rain at this time.  So the real reason they are not here now filming is not due to the weather.
