Restrictions on Peru's energy supply - Customers to be compensated for blackouts

Energy shortage is becoming a greater concern in Peru as the country demands more power supply than what poor infrastructures are able to provide.

With demand for electricity growing at a rate of 12 percent a year, power companies are looking for ways to control the increasing number of blackouts.

In an effort to make sure that the Andean country's energy supply can continue meeting demands, the Ministry of Energy and Mines is to control the use of electric power for the next three years.

Energy and Mines minister Juan Valdivia explained Peru had reached its limit and did not have the capacity to produce more energy.

He confirmed that diesel fuel was being used to generate electricity.

With Limeans experiencing more blackouts and having their electricity cut, Rolando Salvatierra, a lawyer in the field of energy, affirmed that citizens had the right to demand compensation for having their power cut.

He explained that based on how long and the number of times customers had their power cut, they were entitled by law to be compensated every six months.

And they are trying to tell us that there is not an energy crisis?  It certainly sounds like one to me.

They need to get more wind powered energy stations setup in all of the desolate deserts along the coast.

The next 3 years in Lima don't sound like much fun.  Shortage of water, shortage of power, overcrowding, pollution, etc.  Hopefully people will start to realize that the provinces offer a more stable, healthy, and happy life.

We need to foster the nuclear energy as a source of stable energy supply for our country, not dependable from the climate changes like rain/weather and able to provide a solid base for economic growth and energy needs.
We ha ve th euranium i Puno, so let's just use it; and if we don't want the international community to criticize us for being anti-green , let's bring the inspectors of the International atomic agency to supervise our nuclear energy plants.
We need stability to build an stable and developed country and only nuclear energy can give us that.
