Peruvian Medalists Honored By The President

Peru achieved 92 medals in this sportive event, more than those achieved in Santiago 2014.

Martín Vizcarra, President of Peru, honored the athletes that participated in the 11th Cochabamba South American Games 2018 and considered that they left the country’s name high.
The 103 athletes who won 92 medals during the Eleventh South American Games Cochabamba 2018, in Bolivia, left the name of Peru high and its achievement drives the practice of the various disciplines in the country, said the head of state, Martin Vizcarra”, informed El Peruano yesterday.
Vizcarra ratified, during this ceremony, the importance that the government is giving to the practice of sport. “I am doubly proud because you will help us to revalue sport in Peru, which is important for children and youth”, he said at the Government Palace.

El Peruano published that the State, through the Peruvian Sports Institute, gave 1,230,000 Soles for the achievements in that competition. This amount will be distributed among the athletes who won 22 medals of gold, 29 of silver and 41 of bronze. These 92 medals surpass the 40 that were won in Santiago 2014.
