The executive director of Pisco Portón, Johnny Schuler, projected that this year the exports of pisco from Peru will exceed $10 million US dollars because of greater shipments to the United States, Europe and Asia.
Schuler also told the media that the Peruvian Commercial Office Abroad (Ocex) will enable the consolidation of the Peruvian distillate in a greater number of countries.
“While last year the United States remained the main market, pisco arrived at others such as Aruba, Bulgaria, New Zealand, El Salvador, Indonesia, Cuba, Zambia, Finland and Russia, to name a few”, América Economía said.
Nevertheless, Peru stopped exporting pisco to French Guiana, Haiti, Greece, Estonia, the Philippines, Bolivia, Denmark, Dominica, Netherlands Antilles, Austria, Portugal, Morocco, Nicaragua, Virgin Islands, British and Venezuela.
Pisco is a colorless or yellowish-to-amber colored brandy produced in winemaking regions of Peru and Chile. It is made by distilling fermented grape juice into a high-proof spirit and it was developed by 16th-century Spanish settlers.
