The Chamber of Tourism and Foreign Trade of Paracas (CAPATUR) welcomed the decision taken by the Council of Intellectual Property Appeals of the Republic of India (IPAB) in which it declares there is sufficient evidence that in the appeal formulated by Peru to recognize the exclusive rights over the Pisco Denomination of Origin, against Chile’s demand.
“Its president, Eduardo Jáuregui said that justice is finally done to our flag drink in which Pisco is 100% Peruvian, taking into account that its name comes from the province of Pisco belonging to the Ica Region”, CAPATUR said in a press release.
Jáuregui said that the next step is to continue the same efforts in other countries (Europe) on the designation of origin of Pisco.
Likewise, he said that this achievement obtained by Peru should increase the liquor’s exports.
“According to official figures, during 2017, pisco consumption grew 14.3% compared to the previous year, reaching 1.6 million liters”, the press release explains.
