An earthquake of 5.3-magnitude was recorded at 10:50 am yesterday in Ica, according to the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP).
It was also informed that the epicenter of the quake was located 34 kilometers southwest of Pisco and 63 kilometers deep.
“The local authorities of the National Institute of Civil Defense (Indeci) have not yet reported any personal or material damages due to the earthquake, which occurred this morning and had level III – IV intensity”, wrote El Comercio.
Indeci also reminded people that in case of an earthquake it is important to act calmly and identify previously the safe areas inside and outside the home to avoid injuries.
“In addition, they advise having an emergency backpack that contains tools, a portable radio and non-perishable canned basic foods”, El Comercio said.
