Luis Izquierdo Villavicencio created a never-seen-before technique for the treatment of cataracts which earned him the acknowledgment as the best ophthalmologist in the world.
“Last February, he reached the gold medal during the Cataract Surgery Olympics, at the World Congress of Ophthalmology held in Mexico”, reported El Comercio.
In the competition, Izquierdo Villavicencio beat eye doctors from various countries in Latin America, North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
This physician graduated from the Federico Villarreal University and specialized with honors in Brazil and the United States. In addition, he is the director of the Oftalmo Salud clinic, teaches classes and helps people who cannot afford treatment.
