Actress Angelina Jolie arrived in Lima for an official visit to Peru in the representation of the United Nations Agency for Refugees (UNHCR) to learn about the reception of Venezuelan citizens because of the crisis taking place in their country.

In social networks, explained RPP Noticias, images of the actress have already appeared. Some show her meeting with the hip-hop group Inyectando Kultura and others from her visit at the Albergue Sin Fronteras.

“Following the visit of the high commissioner for refugees to the region, Jolie is carrying out a three-day mission to assess the humanitarian needs of the Venezuelan refugees and the challenges that Peru faces as a host country,” the UN agency said in a statement.

In Peru, Angelina Jolie will meet with refugees and authorities, as well as with representatives of civil organizations that provide assistance to immigrants and Venezuelan refugees.

Likewise, she will visit programs through which assistance and protection are provided, “and she will observe the generous response of Peru” to this situation, said UNHCR, according to the aforementioned media.

Jolie frequently visits areas of conflict and areas with refugee problems as a UNHCR correspondent.

Her last visit to Latin America, representing the UN agency, was in Ecuador in 2012 to meet and know directly the living conditions of the Colombian refugees.
