Copper exports in Peru amounted to $11,086 million US dollars between January and September of this year, according to the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE).

This amount represents a growth of 13.5% over the same period of 2017, in which copper exports amounted to $9,711 million US dollars, according to the newspaper Gestión.

“However, the SNMPE said that the movement registered only in September was of $1,090 million US dollars, which meant a decrease of 27% compared to the same month last year”, said Sputnik News.

This website explained that copper is the main primary export of Peru and the SNMPE maintains that the mineral represented 30% of the country’s total sales abroad to September, which totaled $36.2 million US dollars.

Peru is the second largest copper producer in the world, according to the aforementioned source.
