The Group of Lima made an announcement where they blame Nicolás Maduro for the lack of electric power in Venezuela since last Thursday.
“The countries that make up the Group of Lima expressed their solidarity with the millions of Venezuelans affected by a blackout that began last Thursday and that claimed 18 victims in hospitals and clinics as a result of the lack of electricity supply”, El Peruano informed.
In a statement, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay and Peru said that the power cut is one of the innumerable mishaps in daily life that add to the hardships that the Venezuelans have been suffering for years.
“This situation only confirms the existence and magnitude of the humanitarian crisis that the regime of [Nicolás] Maduro refuses to recognize,” said the statement that “blames exclusively” the illegitimate “Chavista” administration for “the collapse of the electricity system” in that country.
The countries of the Lima Group reiterated their support for the President in charge, Juan Guaidó, and the National Assembly, and ratified their commitment to the Venezuelan people in their search for a solution to the crisis.
