Guinea Pig Meat Is Believed To Help Fight Cancer And Cardiovascular Diseases

Nutritionist Jimena Del Pozo said that guinea pig meat has great nutritional value and benefits to fight diseases like diabetes, cancer and other health problems.

Guinea pig is a protein-rich food with high biological value (21%), it is very low in fat (7%) and therefore also in cholesterol, unlike chicken and red meat. It has a lot of collagen, vitamins and minerals”, said Del Pozo to Inforegión.

According to the specialist, guinea pig meat contains a high presence of essential fatty acids for humans: AA (arachidonic) and DHA (docosahexaenoic). These substances help the development of neurons and cell membranes, which are important for the development of the brain of children up to 5 years old.

She also recommends preparing guinea pig in a stew, baked or parboiled with little dressing. Del Pozo also suggests raising this animal at home “because of its rapid reproduction and easy feeding”.
