The firm SACI Falabella signed a memorandum of understanding with Inter IKEA Systems B.V., owner of the IKEA concept and the global franchise, for the development and operation of the first IKEA stores in South America.
“The agreement includes the opening of at least nine stores in Chile, Colombia, and Peru in the next 10 years, along with the development of the online channel for the three countries”, Gestión informed yesterday.
The estimated investment for this project, according to Empresas Falabella, will be of $600 million US dollars and the first of these stores will open in Santiago de Chile by the end of 2020.
On his part, Sandro Solari, the general manager of SACI Falabella considers it satisfactory to have partnered “with one of the most recognized and successful brands worldwide“, he said to Gestión.
“This allows us to offer a unique proposal, in line with our differentiation strategy, with solutions that improve the quality of life of our customers,” he added.
For his part, the CEO of Inter IKEA Group, Torbjörn Lööf, said that this will allow IKEA to move to South America and use the experience of Empresas Falabella in the region.
One of IKEA’s objectives is to make the brand a meaningful one to the people of Chile, Colombia, and Peru, as well as offering to the customers a wide range of products for the home, well designed and with low prices.
IKEA Group is composed of three main businesses: Franchises, Range & Supply, and Industry.
