Jorge Muñoz, mayor of Lima, met this week with the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan to learn from his experience with the London 2012 Olympic Games in view of the Pan American Games Lima 2019 that will occur in July.
“The United Kingdom is Peru’s main partner for the delivery of the Lima Games 2019 through a government to government agreement and the British experience is helping the organizing committee in Peru to deliver the games on time and within budget”, the United Kingdom announced through a press release.
The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said that “the success of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games was a moment of pride for all Londoners because we showed the best that the UK and London have to offer on the world stage.”
He believes that it will be the same success story for Lima and he is happy to share his knowledge and experience on similar events.
“Peru has an infrastructure gap of approximately $160 billion US dollars, which creates an opportunity to contribute to the sustainable growth of the Peruvian economy, as well as opportunities for British companies seeking to export goods and services”, the press release informed.
The Joint Working Group on Infrastructure of the United Kingdom and Peru will meet in London with the objective that the main actors of the public, private sector and the third sector can discuss priority issues for the development of infrastructures.
