The Federal Court of Switzerland acceded to the appeal presented by the Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero, and he is now qualified to play the Russia 2018 World Cup with the National Team.

The information was made public today by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland on their website, said RPP Noticias.
“According to the document, the court granted the provisional suspension requested by the soccer player against the sanction of 14 months of the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Therefore, the resolution continues, FIFA’s anti-doping rules were rendered ineffective and ‘Paolo Guerrero will be present at the next FIFA World Cup, which will take place from June 14 to July 15, 2018, in Russia’”, the media informed this Thursday.

Guerrero was sanctioned after a game played on October 5, 2015, against Argentina, for a year for testing positive for cocaine.

The 34-year-old consistently maintained his innocence, insisting that he drank contaminated ‘coca tea’”, as you can read in Onefootball. His suspension was then changed to 14 months, which left the striker out of the World Cup.
As a last resort, the striker filed last Friday an urgent request for suspension of the sanction before the Swiss Federal Court. Today, it was approved and Guerrero is welcomed back to the team.

Yesterday, Peru’s national soccer team left for Europe to face several friendly matches before traveling to Russia for the World Cup. It is the first time in 36 years that the country participates in this sportive event.
