The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru received last Tuesday several technical and economic proposals from Turkey, Korea, Canada and Spain, with the aim of providing assistance to the South American country in the construction of the Chinchero International Airport, in the city of Cusco.
“According to the official statement of the State entity, the projects will be reviewed by the technical areas of the Ministry and, subsequently, will determine the one that is more advantageous, within the framework of the State Contracting Law”, RT Noticias informed.
It is expected that the contract will be formalized in July of this year with the selected company.
This airport, however, is a controversial subject in Peru because some scientists believe that it will destroy landscapes and other archaeological sites of value to the history and culture of the nation.
