The export of Peruvian asparagus increased this year by 15% after a fall registered as a consequence of El Niño phenomenon in 2017.
Fresh Fruit Peru, a specialized agency in commercial intelligence reported this increase, and El Peruano said that with these numbers, the country plans to recover the first place as a global supplier of this product.
“Up to date shipments of 141,327 tons have been registered, informed the CEO of Fresh Fruit Peru, Luis Corvera”, according to El Peruano.
“This year, with El Niño over, we will resume the first place, until November we have already surpassed everything exported in 2017. And if the trend continues, we will overcome Mexico without any problem,” Corvera added, according to Andina News Agency.
Likewise, Corvera maintained that the blueberry is growing at double digits since its export began less than five years ago, reducing the gap with the world leader, Chile, every year.
