Eva Ayllon was celebrated for her musical trajectory at the 2019 Latin Grammy Awards.
With a career that spans 50 years, Peruvian artist Eva Ayllon is one of the most celebrated Peruvian musicians. As such, she was awarded the 2019 Award for Musical Excellence at this year’s Latin Grammys.
Chosen by the board of the Latin Recording Academy, fellow Peruvian artist Gian Marco presented her with the award. “This award means a lot to me. When I found out about this honor, I handed it directly to my country. Because it belongs to my country,” said Ayllon during the ceremony held in Las Vegas.
Ayllon also thanked her grandmother, whom she says “told me to make music.”
Ayllon is one of Peru’s top Afro-Peruvian talents. She interprets some of Peru’s most popular folkloric and criollo songs. One of her most popular songs is “Estoy Enamorada de mi Pais” (I am in love with my country). Watch her interpret the song with Gian Marco here:
