The incident is already being evaluated and repairs on the pipeline have begun.
Yesterday, Petroperú personnel patrolled Section 1 of the Norperuano Pipeline (Oleoducto Norperuano, ONP) and identified an outcrop of oil at Km 20 + 100, located near the community of San Pedro, Urarinas district, in the Loreto region.
The oil company said later in a statement that at that moment they began immediately to implement the Contingency Plan and sent a specialized team to evaluate the incident and start repairing the damaged part of the pipeline.
Because of these measures Section 1 of the ONP is not currently operating and the company believes that the outcropping is due to damages to the infrastructure made by third parties, informed Gestión.
“The supervisory bodies, the National Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office are being informed of the corresponding actions,” the company added in the statement.
Gestión also explained that in Section 1, where this situation has taken place, the Plan for the Dismantling and Early Warning is being developed. This provides employment to the inhabitants of the communities neighboring the pipeline and which also includes social responsibility actions to benefit them.
