The technical director Ricardo Gareca signed yesterday the renewal of his contract after the Peruvian Soccer Federation (FPF) accepted on Saturday night all of the requirements he had to continue coaching the national team.
“The only thing missing is for Ricardo Gareca to continue as coach of the national team, today he must sign, and the entire board supports his continuity,” said FPF vice-president Agustín Lozano, at the end of a meeting of the federation’s board of directors, according to information of Andina News Agency.
Ricardo Gareca, also known as “El Tigre” received assurance that his work will not be affected by the scandal of the judges’ audios that on Monday splattered the president of the Peruvian Soccer Federation, Edwin Oviedo, informed Lozano to the media.
The FPF vice-president also said that no matter what, Gareca will be in charge of the Qatar World Cup 2022, referring to an eventual change of the president of the Peruvian Soccer Federation.
“El Tigre” arrived in Lima on Wednesday night and returned yesterday to Buenos Aires.
