Swedish Companies Are Interested In Peru’s Lithium Reserves

Sweden has shown interest in Peru and other countries in South America for their lithium reserves.

As part of a “global race” to obtain “white gold”, according to El Comercio, Sweden wants to secure supplies needed for electric car batteries, such as lithium.

“The Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade of the Scandinavian country, who visited Peru last month, said Swedish companies are interested in lithium and being part of the metal supply chain in the region”, El Comercio informed.

Peru is the second world copper producer but it is now expecting to enter the market with its own lithium reserves.

“Last year, Canada’s Plateau Energy Metals announced the discovery of 2.5 million tons of high-grade ore resources in the south of the country, which could become the world’s largest lithium mine”, said El Comercio.
