The minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Gustavo Mostajo Ocola, launched the 2018-2019 grape season in Ica, where 196,000 tons of this fruit are harvested.
“According to estimates, the country will produce 340 thousand tons of table grapes this season, i.e. 20% more than the 274 thousand tons it produced in the previous season”, Fresh Plaza informed on Tuesday.
The minister also visited several farms and delivered phytosanitary certificates.
According to him, the table grape has had significant growth in Peru and has become one of the most important export products along with avocado, blueberries, mandarin, mango and asparagus.
