Next year, Peru will not only organize the Pan American Games Lima 2019, but it will be hosting the South American Sub 17 soccer championship.
“Peruvians have already demonstrated that we can change history and today we have a new challenge: to organize the U17 World Cup with the best youth players on the planet,” said the statement from the Peruvian Soccer Federation (FPF) through its official Twitter account.
This event, according to information from Libero, will take place from March 6 to 31. “However, the venues where this tournament could be played have not yet been confirmed”, the media said.
So far, the cities of Tacna and Trujillo are on the list of possible cities for the championship to take place.
Also, it should be noted that since Peru will be organizing the event, the team automatically classifies to the U17 World Cup. “That is to say, the rest of the teams will fight to obtain one of the four places that the South American tournament will give for the maximum competition of the category”, Libero informed.
