Voters Have Until This Saturday To Choose Their Polling Place For Regional And Municipal Elections

This Saturday, June 23, is the deadline for voters in Peru to choose their polling place for the Regional and Municipal Elections to be held on October 7.

The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) enabled a special button on its website to carry out this process”, said El Comercio. “Through this option, voters can register up to three possible polling stations that are near their home and thus avoid long trips”, they continued.

Only people who reside in the provinces of Lima, Callao, Trujillo, and Arequipa can choose the place they wish to vote. All they need is their ID number and log into the website.

ONPE said that if the citizen has already chosen his polling place in previous processes, it is important that he or she chooses it once again to ensure that he or she is able to vote near his/her home.

In addition, if the person has a disability that prevents them from moving easily, they must indicate it at the time of registration to provide assistance at the polling place on the day of the elections.
