The rates for homes electricity service provided by the National Interconnected Electrical System will drop between 1.7% and 2.2%, as a result of the new regulations on the generation and distribution costs, according to Peru's National Surpervising Organism for Investment in Energy and mining (Osinergmin), as quoted by local business paper Gestión. # mericorps says :

So, at that rate, the average residential utility bill will go down somewhere between 30 centimos to 2 soles.
Big whoop.

Well I pay 700 soles a month for electricity in the summer months running the a/c so saving a measly 21 soles is peanuts. The problem in Peru is Luz del Sur charges a higher rate for people living in the more "affluent" areas like mine and then gives a huge discount and cheaper rate to the majority of the country living in ghettos. Then we get a tax on the bill of 19%, plus another tax to provide electricity to rural areas in the middle of nowhere. Like I told them to build a shack out there in the dirt with no roads, running water or power lines. This country is socialist, plain and simple.Add your comment
