Peru's President Alan Garcia led the nation's homage to its hero Miguel Grau Seminario, during the ceremony celebrating the 188th Anniversary of Peru's Navy and the 130th Anniversary of the Naval Battle of Angamos.

The ceremonial was held at the Plaza Grau of Callao province, with the attendance of Defense Minister Rafael Rey, the Navy's Commander in Chief, Admiral Rolando Navarrete Salomón, and other political, military and civilian aauthorities.

Miguel Grau Seminario (1834-1879) was a renowned Peruvian naval officer and hero of the Naval Battle of Angamos during the War of the Pacific (1879-1884).

He was known as the el Caballero de los Mares (Spanish for "Knight of the Seas") for his chivalry and is esteemed by both Peruvians and Chileans.

He is an iconic figure for the Peruvian Navy, and one of the most famous military leaders of the Americas

Hola Editor of LIP.
What happenend to the original wording of this article ?? It seems to have been altered/censored ??

As I remember it from that day of publishing here, it had other words referring to how he died....you know, the British helped the Chileans with better ships, and they did kill the famous Admiral with heavy cannon fire.

Maybe it was deemed provocative.... no lo se..... but true, nonetheless, si ?

Regards,
Viracocha
