Which means what exactly to the average Peruvian?? Oh, yeah, that's right...NOTHING.
Mining companies extract, ship it out, refine it elsewhere, sell it back to Peruvians. Taxes on everything are pocketed by crooked politicians and their minions, so they can buy new beach houses, send their kids to private schools, and fly to Europe first class. What do the average Peruvians get? More low paying jobs and the privilege of poisioning the country's land, water, and air.
So let's just all pat the fat cats in downtown Lima on the back, shall we, for a job well done!! Yep, thanks for nothing.

Actually this at the very minimum means more mining royalties to the government who in turn uses this to build infastructure proyects, social programs, paying for other essential services etc. Which in turn attract more investment, and more employment.
Better to be producing these than buying these anyday.

DavidN you are a nut case.
The people of your country are so greedy they have created a worldwide recession. Now you will have to pay for you greed with a falling dollar and trillions in debt, your country is bankrupt. At least however slow, Peru is slowly cutting poverty your country is going the other direction.
As they say in your country if you do not like it leave, I think you should use that advice and leave Peru...please.

Exactly. Give credit where credit is due. Peru's standard of living is increasing every year. There is no denying that and there is no denaying that Peru is a Major Metals Producer. Metal prices are heading back north again and there is no respite. This is excellent for us. And better to have a low paying job than no job.Add your comment
