WOW! This is a positive symbol of a better future for the large sector of Peruvian society that live in poverty, a self surviving life style with a edge to protect and conserve Nature, the real and legitimate spirit of ancestral Native America.

Excellent!
It is good to see environmental stewardship partices being promoted in Peru. It is also great to see innovative projects being recognized for their ecological improvement impacts as well as for their efforts to assist in the reduction of poverty.
We are all aware of the fact that it is a healthy environment that provides a health social and economic foundation for any country.
Success in places like Peru will be measured by the sustainability of the land and environment as well as the health and welfare of all people in Peru. The opportunity for the people of Peru to advance their social and economic status while maintaining a healthy environment exists but it will take leadership, commitment, political will and a vision or mobilizing the inherent potential that is within its people. Unlocking this potential is something that true leaders can encourage, but will it happen?
Everytime I see another young person or person living in poverty given an opportunity through education or a program that allows them to engage meaningful activities that betters them and their community, I feel thankful that there are leaders and industry taking action to create a better community! One project and one person at a time it is projects like Ciudad Saludable that make our communities a better place.
Congratulations to all involved and keep up the good work. For others, I continue to encourage you to take the action necessary to make your community a better place. Once person at a time, we can make a difference.

yes yes very nice project..
It would be really really cool to deal with the problem at the source. Since all this grabage in the river landing on the shores of Pucullpa comes from the citys up stream of Pucullpa, Directly from Quillabamba, the sacred valley, Urubamba, Calca, Pisac, Cusco and Machu Picchu that weeky dump tons of raw garbage into the river in stead of dealing with it in local landfils that cause the problem in the first place.
If the source is not delt with the garbage will just keep flowing down the river, as well as the raw unteated sewage that goes directly into the sacred river.
Cusco massivly protests the consession of their heritage sites, then at the same time fills their sacred willca mayo river with tons of garbage and sewage, when will they ever protest about that?
Maybe in Pucullpa they can send the garbage that fills their river shores back to Cusco to see how they like it.

They say change happens when shift happens so I remain hopeful that each action will inspire others to make a positive change.
I also realize that a lot of the pollution habits are very hard to change but they must be changed if people truly wish to return their environment to the way it was before they started destroying it with ignorant destructive behaviors. Leadership takes guts to make meaningful decisions that truly have a meaningful effect but as we have witnessed around the world, there has been very little consideration for quality environmental stewardship but it has to start somewhere so I applaud this project and the people who are working towards keeping Peru's environment a priority.
All the best to you and may your example encourage others.

Excellent work for a leading social entrepreneur like Albina Ruiz! This shows that practical solutions developed in countries like Peru can transcend boundaries. Please, watch this five-minute video done by Deutsche Welle TV about Ciudad Saludable's work.Add your comment
