Walt Disney Company denies construction of theme park in Peru

News that The Walt Disney Company was evaluating a project in Peru has circled the globe since El Comercio newspaper posted an article affirming this information on Monday.

National and international news agencies quoted El Comercio and rapidly spread the news of the multi-billion dollar project to supposedly take place south of Lima.

Blogs and other dailies have speculated the possibilities and questioned whether Peru is ready for such an investment and if the global company is truly interested in such a venture.

In yet another story released on the topic on Wednesday morning, Peru.com reported that The Walt Disney Company had no interest in building one of its iconic theme parks in Peru.

The online news site cited Maria Adela Lavalle as stating, "We completely deny the construction of a theme park in Peru".

The head of Disney's Corporate Communications in Latin America was also quoted as stating, "Currently, there is not a study taking place to build a theme park in Latin America".

You mean that now people aren't going to hurry up and start buying over-priced land near Asia based on a rumor started by an investment group?

Shame, shame.

Sounds like another April Fool's joke.  There is no way that Disney would build a theme park in Peru.

Respect to the news:
Maybe Walt Disney doesn't have plans for set up a new park in Peru. However, they or another investors can evaluate the possibility for invest in Peru. This country has many opportunities like its location, minerals, glorious ancestor, people etc.
WELCOME TO PERU!!!

Rodrigo, if you like Humala so much, move to Venezuela, they are experiencing what Peru would if Humala was ever to govern Peru.
In my opiniong, Peru should keep its goals and improve 3 main problems in Peru, infrastructure, transportation ( which comes along with infrastructure ) but it needs a major reform, and Corruption control throughout the country, perhaps a Anti-Corruption minister would no be a bad idea. Anyhow, as yeard go by many more Peruvian realize what a beautiful country Peru is, and have more confidence on investing within the country, and their selfsteem as Peruvians grows as they hear the progress Peru is achieving, making them more concern about their coutnry ( hopefully they will realize how bad it is to litter! )
With that being said, I will also return to Peru one da to contribute to this progress, haremos Patria!
