More than 16,000 police will provide security during the VIII Summit of the Americas that will take place this Friday and Saturday in Lima and to which more than 20 Heads of State and have confirmed their attendance, wrote El Peruano.
The Interior Minister, Mauro Medina Guimaraes gave this information yesterday during the closing ceremony of the beach summer season 2018, held in the Unidad de Salvataje de Barranco.
“The official explained that, of the aforementioned total, 8,000 agents come from different administrative units that will support the protection of the authorities.”, explained El Peruano.
The agents will guard the dignitaries both in the summit and in their hotels, revealed General Gastón Rodríguez, head of the Lima Police Region.
In addition, the routes of their movements and the premises that will host the summit will be monitored as well. The Lima Convention Center, the Ministry of culture, the Plaza de Armas, and the embassies of the participating countries will be some of the places that will be guarded.
Also, in order to guarantee the security of the leaders and visitors who will arrive in Lima to participate in the VIII Summit of the Americas in Lima, the Government declared as non-working holidays Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14.
This measure will apply to workers in the public and private sectors of Metropolitan Lima and Callao.
