Vice President Mike Pence will be traveling instead of Trump.
The White House announced today the cancellation of President Donald Trump’s trip to Lima, Peru for the VIII Summit of the Americas this Friday 13 and Saturday 14.
The reason for the cancellation is that The President of the United States wants to “monitor the US response to Syria”, according to information from El Comercio.
This would have been Trump’s first visit to Latin America since he took office, but instead, Vice President Mike Pence will be traveling to Peru in his representation.
“The President will remain in the US to monitor the US response to Syria and global events,” White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said in a statement on Tuesday.
A few days ago, El Nuevo Herald explained that more than 500 military corps (114 troops and 454 members of the Air Force) will enter Peru with military equipment, weapons, and two helicopters and will remain for a total of 18 days, as security measures for the US representatives during the summit.
