There is no risk of a tsunami in the Peruvian coasts.

Early this morning a 4.1-Magnitude earthquake was registered 22 kilometers west of the city of Moquegua, reported the Geophysical Institute of Peru (Instituto Geofísico del Perú, IGP).
“The telluric movement had a depth of 128 kilometers.”, wrote La República earlier today, who informed that the report took place at 12:05 am.

Several residents of Arequipa also reported the tremor and described it to be of a medium duration.

The Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation of the Navy of Peru (Dirección de Hidrografía y Navegación de la Marina de Guerra del Perú), confirmed that this earthquake does not generate any possibility of a tsunami in the entire national coast.

Whenever there’s an earthquake of great magnitude, the Civil Defense Institute, Indeci, recommends everyone to stay calm and take shelter in a safe place.

Another recommendation is to always have an emergency backpack with supplies ready, as well as a plan to protect yourself in case of an earthquake or other unexpected situations.
Earthquakes are very common in Peru because of the country’s location in the Ring of Fire, which is a large area in the Pacific Ocean that registers about 85% of all of the seismic activity in the world.
