The private project that seeks to build a cruise terminal in the Miraflores Bay took a step forward in its execution in November last year when it obtained technical viability from the National Port Authority (APN), an entity attached to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
However, El Comercio explains that not everyone is in favor of this project. The Costa Verde Project Authority (APCV), a decentralized entity of the Municipality of Lima, said that this terminal “lacks effectiveness, since the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima is the only entity competent to modify the zone and uses of the riparian corridor of the Costa Verde”, as you can read in the website.
Edgar Patiño, president of APN, announced last week that the terminal’s construction is already in process and that it is expected to be finished by 2021. Its exact location would be near the descent of San Marín and it will have two docks.
“The Costa Verde Project Authority has indicated that the terminal does not proceed, but the APN and the Navy have the authority to decide, according to the standards,” said José Larco Pedraza, manager of the proposing company for the project Terminal de Cruceros Bahía de Miraflores S.A.C.
Another person that rejects this construction is the mayor of Miraflores, Jorge Muñoz. According to him, it is not compatible with the “master plan” of the Costa Verde and he denied that the APCV has jurisdiction in this matter, as you can read in El Comercio.
