A report prepared by Hamilton Castro, then head of the Lava Jato Special Team in charge of investigating Odebrecht in Peru, revealed the points that the Brazilian company did not fulfill in the first collaboration agreement it signed with the Public Ministry of Peru.
“According to the ‘Panorama’ TV show, the report was presented after a document that Odebrecht delivered to the judicial authorities of Brazil, where it sustained that the Prosecutor’s Office, between 2017 and mid-2018, violated the agreement of January 4, 2017”, Perú 21 wrote.
On June 27, 2018, Odebrecht sent a 17-page document, prepared by a Brazilian law firm, to the Attorney General’s Office in this country. This is a long list of complaints against the actions of the Lava Jato Special Team and alleged violations of the agreement signed with the Peruvian Public Prosecution.
Hamilton Castro responded with a report noting that Odebrecht did not assist the Special Team with sufficient collaboration as was agreed on the document signed on January 4, 2017.
“According to the document presented by ‘Panorama’, Odebrecht undertook to collaborate with concrete information on six issues: payment of a bribe to former President Alejandro Toledo for the Interoceanic Highway; South Interoceanic Highway, sections 2 and 3; Line 1 of the Lima Metro; contribution to the electoral campaign of Ollanta Humala in 2011; construction of the Avenida Evitamiento in the city of Cusco; and payment for the campaign of the “no” to the recall of Susana Villarán”, Perú 21 said, explaining that this was the first agreement that is being discussed.
