In a penthouse in Miraflores, Lima, Brenda Ortiz Clarke will inaugurate a collective art exhibition called Experimental Spaces (Espacios Experimentales) next April 5 in Malecón de la Marina 530, apartment 9. This project is part of Bloc Art, an initiative that wishes to promote local art in Peru.
“Three years ago, Bloc Art was a dream for Brenda Ortiz Clarke. A dream born of her early love for visiting galleries and museums, and her desire to promote local art among connoisseurs and collectors. Now this project represents more than 25 Peruvian artists and is ready to participate -between April 4 and 7- in Art Lima with four stands, in which it will present three individual and one collective show”, El Comercio explained.
For Ortiz, Peruvian art is in the process of growing and in the path of achieving a collecting tradition like the one seen in Colombia or Miami, she told El Comercio in an interview.
“Having two fairs (Art Lima and PArC) is very important”, Ortiz believes, adding that many of the visitors were not collectors but art appreciators. “We have different agents: galleries, art dealers, collectors, but what we need is to professionalize the art system”, she continued.
